The HSSE Engineer is responsible for providing technical HSSE support to corporate, onshore operations and offshore operations, ensuring effective implementation of HSSE management systems, compliance with ISO 14001/45001 and applicable regulations, and performance improvement across sites and projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide HSSEQ support, advice and assurance to Operations and HSSEQ Teams as well as other support departments when necessary.
- Support the development and implementation of MODEC Mexico’s annual HSSEQ plans.
- Support the implementation of MODEC Mexico emergency response organization.
- Maintain working relationships with relevant Mexican authorities and other organizations (client, contractors and O&G companies).
- Maintain a relevant and up-to-date Legal Compliance Register - Software and to provide appropriate advice and support to ensure adequate compliance in the MODEC business.
- Maintain a relevant and up‐to‐date Country HSSEQ risk register and provide appropriate advice and support to ensure safe operations, logistics, etc.
- Follow up the development of the MV34 IMS mainly in regard to regulatory compliance.
- Support monitoring the HSSEQ performance of Subcontractors, in collaboration with the Operations team.
- Participate and provide support during internal HSSEQ audits by the development and conduction of the Internal Audit Plans.
- Maintain and improve HSSE procedures and tools (ISO 14001/45001, local regulations).
- Supervise the registries for POs, vendor services, equipment calibration/verification, and HSSE assets.
- Raise and follow up POs for HSSE goods/services (e.g., PPE, calibration, training), ensuring timely delivery and documentation.
- Own the office Emergency Response Plan; conduct drills, maintain emergency equipment, and coordinate wardens/first aiders.
- Support/lead incident investigations; ensure root causes and corrective actions are implemented.
- Facilitate risk assessments for office and onshore activities; maintain risk/aspect registers.
Requirements: - Bachelor’s in engineering, Occupational H&S, Environmental Science, or related.
- 5 years HSSE of experience; corporate/onshore support preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001/45001/9001; internal auditor preferred.
- Experience with incident investigation and risk assessment.
- Advanced English.
- Proficiency with Excel/Power BI; familiarity with procurement / ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
