Role Purpose

Senior Logistics Specialist is responsible for logistics activities for assinged projects, ensuring adherence to logistics procedures and policies. This role involves close communication with Lead Logistics, collaborating with Procurement Specialists, Project Team Members, Material Controllers, and third-party logistics providers to facilitate the timely transportation, export packing, and delivery of materials for assigned projects via airfreight, ocean freight, and overland transport.

Key Accountabilities

Proactive Freight Management and Process ImprovementProactively manages the domestic and international freight, crating, and shipping activities to support on time delivery to project requirements and customer requirements. Support lead logistics and logistics manager to develop and improve processes and procedures as needed.
Efficient Transportation AnalysisAnalyzes the available routes and modes of transportation for MODEC cargo to determine the most efficient and economical method and of shipment and carrier, with TPL, under the supervision of Lead Logistics.
Problem Resolution and Cost ManagementIdentifies, analyzes, and develops corrective actions or alternative solutions to transportation problems. Ensures that areas negatively impacting cost are identified and addressed and elevated as needed to Lead Logistics.
Logistics Planning and Procedure DevelopmentSupport Lead Logistics to create and manage the Logistics Plan for all projects and develops any project specific shipping or material handling procedures.
Material Plan Monitoring and ReportingWorks with the Material Controllers to monitor and report the status of the Project Material Plans to the project teams and identifies possible solutions to resolve delays to the project schedules.
Service Provider Management and NegotiationManage service provider activities for all shipments. Manage and negotiate with freight forwarders to book import & export cargo and foreign to foreign cargo.
Vessel Chartering and Specialty Carrier ManagementNegotiate with brokers, agents, or forwarders to charter vessels, barges, and other specialty carriers as needed to support FPSO construction.
Documentation Review and ComplianceReviews and distributes all documents required for shipment including commercial invoices, destination and end use statements, NAFTA Certificates of Origin, etc. Maintains files for imported materials. Prepares Marine Cargo Insurance declarations / certifications.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management.
Comprehensive understanding of logistics operations, regulations, and industry best practices.
Proficient in logistics software and tools, with a strong grasp of transportation management systems (TMS) and supply chain technologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex logistics information clearly and effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of making informed decisions to address logistical challenges.
Relevant certifications in logistics and supply chain management would be advantageous.
