The General Purpose Operator function shall include but may not be limited to the following objectives and responsibilities, which may be revised from time to time as indicated by changes in operational requirements.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for general operational and maintenance tasks on the deck including helideck. Assist in offload/bunkering operations, load/backload and movement of cargo to supply vessels, housekeeping, fabric maintenance, other assignments that the Deck / Cargo Supervisor may assign, assist in scaffolding assembling and dismantling aiming to ensure that all activities are conducted safely, efficiently.

Key Objectives

  1. To carry out all work in all operational areas in a competent, safe and efficient manner in accordance with the FPSO Integrated Management System (IMS), and Permit to Work System.
  2. To assist in the loading and discharge of supply vessels as rigger, dogman and any other roles assigned by the Deck Supervisor.
  3. To operate, where qualified, cranes and lifting appliances onboard the unit and to ensure operation of lifting equipment within their safe working limits and in accordance with the Safety Management Systems onboard.
  4. Contribute in safe mooring and unmooring operations and monitoring of offload operations by following procedures, safety standards, task risk assessment & toolbox talk instructions.
  5. Assist with berthing and mooring operations and monitoring of transfer from Methanol Tankers when berthed alongside in ship to ship configuration.
  6. To carry out duties associated with the safe landing and takeoffs of helicopters, as a member of the offshore helideck emergency response team.
  7. Contribute to housekeeping of entire main deck, around accommodation decks, lay down areas, marine stores, engine room, pumproom, production areas and any other areas designated by the Deck / Cargo Supervisor.
  8. To ensure all decks and store rooms are maintained in a safe and secure condition at all times.
  9. Erect and dismantle scaffolding as required, if qualified to do so.
  10. Carry out maintenance tasks, as directed by the Deck Supervisor in all areas including:
  • Corrosion control including needle gunning, sand and water blasting, spray painting etc.
  • Tank operations including tank entry, cleaning, removal of scale, valves, pipework etc.
  • Pump room work including removal / installation of valves, blanks, pump repairs and overhauls.
  1. To maintain an efficient fire or deck watch as required.
